Amtrak's Acela trains will be celebrating their 22nd anniversary very soon, with the new fleet only raising the bar with their thoughtful interiors aimed at providing passengers with an enhanced level of comfort.

The trains will have to be tested by the Federal Railroad Administration on the Northeast Corridor (NEC) before being officially put into service. They are scheduled to officially start running in the fall of 2023.

The new fleet of Acela trains, built by Alstom, are high-speed Tier III trains that have been certified to run at speeds up to 186 miles per hour. They are expected to reach 160 mph on the Northeast Corridor, which is ten mph faster than current Acela trains.
