PKP Intercity’s e-IC 2.0: Upgraded Online System Makes Train Ticketing Easier and More Efficient

PKP Intercity has made purchasing train tickets more accessible and user-friendly with the completion of testing for its upgraded online sales system, e-IC 2.0.

This new platform, eagerly awaited by passengers, introduces a range of features designed to simplify the booking process. Users can now easily plan their journeys by comparing prices, travel times, and available special offers. Additionally, the system intelligently suggests applicable discounts based on passenger eligibility.

What's new in e-IC 2.0

Since August, PKP Intercity customers have had the option to purchase period tickets along with reservations online. Tickets can be bought through a shopping cart system. There is no longer a requirement to create an account on the website. Passengers transferring between stations in the Warsaw metropolitan area can now purchase a ticket that includes the transfer. The e-IC 2.0 website is also available in English. And there's more:

• The ability to search for round-trip connections;
• The option to select parameters such as the number of passengers (children and adults), available discounts based on age, amenities like quiet zones, reclining or sleeping arrangements, or space for bicycles;
• Suggestions for available offers, such as Family Ticket, Large Family, or Cheaper with Friends;
• A search function for statutory or commercial discounts among the available options;
• A list of connections showing the total travel cost for the specific train based on the selected travel parameters, including all passengers and discounts;
• Automatic application of discount offers on the list of connections if the passenger meets the required conditions;
• A simple and clear view of seat availability, including regular and special seats;
• The ability to check the platform from which the train departs and view the travel route;
• A preview of the steps in the purchasing process, allowing customers to see where they are and go back to a previous step;
• Purchasing profiles that highlight frequently chosen routes;
• The option to add the ticket to a calendar;
• The ability to enter the destination city instead of the station name, with the system suggesting all available connections and station names based on the selected city's stations.

Redirecting from External Search Engines

Users of external connection search engines will gradually be redirected to the e-IC 2.0 website. It's already possible to redirect to the system from Google Maps, the Passenger Portal owned by PKP PLK, or from the Promobilet section on the PKP Intercity website. Additional redirections, which passengers can expect, will be implemented in the next steps. The e-IC 2.0 service is available at ebilet.intercity.pl and operates alongside the current e-IC system. What's Coming This Year?

The development of the e-IC 2.0 system is an integral part of building comfort and satisfaction for PKP Intercity passengers. To ensure the highest quality of service from the moment of ticket purchase, gradual extensions of system functionalities are planned. Later this year, it will be possible to purchase seats, reclining, and sleeping accommodations on international routes through the online sales system.
