At the TRAKO fair in Gdańsk, CZ LOKO unveiled the DualShunter 2000, a game-changing locomotive that seamlessly merges diesel propulsion with electric trolley power.
Fifteen years after Škoda Transportation's 380 (109e) series debuted, the Czech rail industry witnessed another revolutionary electric innovation. Engineered with an environmentally friendly bend, the DualShunter 2000 boasts a Caterpillar C32 EU stage V engine, outputting a mighty 895 kW.
This design permits the freight trains to exploit dependent traction on electrified lines, while its robust internal combustion engine ensures smooth rides even on non-electrified terrains. Notably, the locomotive's version operates under a 3kV DC direct current supply system, nullifying the need for two separate locomotives or the uneconomical and unenvironmental operation of a diesel machine on electric tracks. Serving purposes from light to medium-heavy track service and displacement, this locomotive may very well be the linchpin in CZ LOKO's future blueprint.
