Since the beginning of the COVID19 pandemic, ÖBB has been working closely with the authorities and continuously implementing the legal requirements. In this way, ÖBB has always contributed to safe public transport in Austria. The ÖBB changes anti-Covid regulations as of June 1.

According to the COVID-19 Basic Measures Ordinance of the Federal Government, valid as of June 1, the obligation to wear an FFP2 mask in local and long-distance trains as well as buses of ÖBB outside Vienna is no longer applicable.
ÖBB also implements the special regulation of the City of Vienna that FFP2 masks must still be worn in public transport vehicles and train stations.

The masks requirement in closed station areas is no longer applicable - with the exception of Vienna. ÖBB informs passengers about the currently valid regulations with announcements in the trains and at the stations, on the monitors at the station and on the website oebb.at. Passengers can, of course, continue to wear masks voluntarily.
