Czech Railways has announced significant updates to its 2025 timetable, introducing new services that promise to make travel between Czechia and Poland faster and more convenient.

Starting next year, four pairs of express trains, branded as the Baltic Express, will operate between Prague and Poland’s Baltic coast, reducing travel times and offering comfortable journeys for tourists and business travelers alike.

The most notable addition to the new timetable is the launch of the Baltic Express, which will connect Prague with the Polish port city of Gdynia. These new services, operated in collaboration with PKP Intercity, will provide direct connections between Prague and major Polish cities, including Kłodzko, Wrocław, Poznań, Bydgoszcz, and the Tri-City area on the Baltic Sea.

"In just four months, we will launch four pairs of Baltic Express trains," said Michal Krapinec, CEO of Czech Railways. "This offer will considerably simplify and speed up travel between the Czech Republic and Poland and will contribute to tourist and trade exchange between our countries. Until now, all long-distance trains to Poland went via Bohumín, which for the western part of our republic represented a considerable delay. For example, the journey from Prague to Gdańsk will be shortened by about 3 hours."

The Baltic Express will run four times daily, with departures from Prague scheduled at 7:50, 11:00, 15:00, and 19:00. The route includes stops in key Czech cities such as Kolín, Pardubice, and Letohrad, before crossing the border into Poland and continuing through Kłodzko, Wrocław, Poznań, Bydgoszcz, and reaching Gdańsk, Sopot, and Gdynia. The new service is designed to cater to both Czech tourists heading to Poland and Polish travelers visiting Czechia.

"We believe that there will be interest in the new trains among Czechs and Poles. Many cities on the Baltic Express route have a rich history and cultural and historical connection with the Czech Republic. They are, therefore, attractive destinations for Czech tourists. Polish cities can then generate a significant number of tourists heading to the Czech Republic. The four largest cities on the route alone have over 2 million inhabitants. They are also important economic centers. The connections are also of great importance for domestic transport. In our country, they will provide a direct, fast, and comfortable connection from the north-western part of the Pardubice Region to the capital," says Jiří Ješeta, member of the Board of Directors and Deputy Director General of Czech Railways for Passenger Transport.

The new trains will feature modern, air-conditioned carriages equipped with amenities such as Wi-Fi, power outlets for charging devices, and special accommodations for passengers with wheelchairs and bicycles.
