foto: DB Connect/Deutsche Bahn Introduces Folding Bike Subscription Service
Starting in June, Deutsche Bahn is offering a new subscription with London-based folding bike specialist Brompton: For 41 euros a month, interested parties can rent a high-quality folding bike and take it with them on buses and trains free of charge.
The bikes can be folded easily and quickly into a portable package and are, thus, particularly space-saving. It makes them very convenient to take along on public transport. When folded, the bikes count as luggage, so commuters can take them on buses and trains regardless of bike tickets and blocking times. Especially for the way to and from the train station, the folding bikes are a flexible and environmentally friendly solution without having to search for a parking space.

The monthly subscription price includes delivery within Germany, insurance and a comprehensive service check after six months. Customers conclude the contract directly with Brompton. The contract period is twelve months and then ends automatically. Customers who want to keep the folding bike can then either extend their subscription or buy a new Brompton folding bike at a reduced price.
With the subscription, DB wants to promote the combination of bicycles and trains. As part of a pilot project, DB and Brompton have already tested the folding bike subscription on the Stuttgart S-Bahn for twelve months. The response was overwhelmingly positive, so DB is rolling out the offer nationwide from June 1, 2023.
