As early as May 11, 2022, the UIP Keepers' Summit, the crucial event for the rail revolution, will take place in Vienna.

The summit will primarily negotiate revolutionary issues aimed at actions in rail transport that will help achieve a digital future and a modal share of at least 30%, which, in turn, will contribute to strengthening the role of rail freight in European mobility and the European Green Deal.

The UIP Keepers' Summit program covers sustainable, green growth, in which the rail freight transport sector has many opportunities to prove that the more efficient and, therefore, competitive it becomes, the faster the modal shift will occur.

The summit will officially open at 2:00 p.m. with speeches by Heiko Fischer, UIP President, and Mark Topal-Gökceli, CTO ÖBB.

At 2:45 p.m., it will be followed by panel discussions on supporting the goal of climate neutrality and increasing modal rail freight. Discussions will include dialogues focused on the following topics:

  • who is doing what to address the infrastructure-related shortcomings: remove national barriers, increase capacity, coordinate works, etc.
  • how will we transform rail freight and integrate it into the digital supply chain: deploy new technologies, define new operational realities, use innovation programs, etc.

The following speakers are invited to take part in the panel discussion:

  • Viktor Plank, Strategic Network Planning, ÖBB Infra
  • Alexander Klacska, Chairman Transport and Logistics, Austrian Chamber of Commerce
  • Jörg Nowaczyk, Chief Commercial Officer, GATX Rail Europe
  • Andreas Mandl, CEO, LTE
  • Libor Lochman, Counsellor for EU affairs. Czech Republic dráhy, a.s.
  • Eric Pfaffmann, Vice President Digital Customer Interface, DB Cargo
  • Chris Swan, Head of Rail, Tarmac
  • Matthias Knüpling, Head of Business Development, VTG
  • Karl Schauer, Director of Operations, LKW Walter
  • Jens Engelmann, EDDP Programme Manager
