It is the second such contract signed by a national carrier. The first contract implied delivery of 50 units. Thus, with the additional option, ČD Cargo will have 80 seawater-modernized class 742.71X locomotives, which are currently the backbone of the company's fleet.
The internal combustion engine of the class 742.71X diesel locomotives has an output of 1000 kW and enables a top speed of up to 100 km/h. It is approved for operation in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

ČD Cargo operates 140 of these locomotives daily, and only 37 of them are modernized. We are talking about complete modernization, which means complete modification except for the mainframe. Everything falls under modernization (except the chassis, which can be modified), including the ETCS signalling system installation.
