Sustainability isn’t just a buzzword at Siemens — it’s a measurable advantage. The company has landed the highest possible EcoVadis rating, placing it among the top 1% of companies worldwide.

Siemens has achieved the highest possible distinction in the 2025 EcoVadis Sustainability Rating, earning a Platinum medal and securing its place among the top 1% of over 130,000 companies assessed worldwide, according to an official press release from Siemens Mobility and reporting by automation.com. With an overall score of 85 points, Siemens received top marks across all four EcoVadis pillars: Environment, Ethics, Labour & Human Rights, and Sustainable Procurement.

The company’s rail division, Siemens Mobility, was assessed separately and earned a near-identical score of 84 points, further confirming Siemens’ position as a sustainability leader in both infrastructure and transport sectors. "Achieving the highest-ever score and being among the top one percent of all rated companies reinforces our position as a sustainability leader," said Eva Riesenhuber, Siemens’ Global Head of Sustainability. "Sustainability is at the core of our business."

A Company-Wide Commitment to Sustainability

According to woodandpanel.com, more than 90% of Siemens’ business portfolio contributes to customer sustainability goals in three key areas: decarbonisation and energy efficiency, resource efficiency and circularity, and social impact. These contributions span industries ranging from manufacturing and infrastructure to mobility and healthcare.

The Platinum medal reflects Siemens’ progress in aligning its operations and strategy with international frameworks, including the UN Global Compact, ILO conventions, GRI standards, and ISO 26000. Siemens has long prioritised ethical sourcing, digital decarbonisation tools, and circular product design across its global footprint.

As Andreas Mehlhorn, Head of Sustainability at Siemens Mobility, explained, "Being awarded the EcoVadis Platinum medal once again is a strong testament to our leading position in the rail industry. It reflects our commitment to integrating sustainable solutions across our operations and supply chain."

Digital Innovation Driving Environmental Impact

Siemens’ sustainability strategy is closely linked to its digital and AI-powered technologies, which are embedded into solutions across multiple sectors. The company is increasingly applying industrial AI and generative AI in areas like manufacturing and energy, enabling real-time optimisation of resources, reduced waste, and lower emissions.

In rail, Siemens Mobility is advancing technologies such as energy-efficient rolling stock, electrified transport, and automated rail systems, which collectively help reduce the carbon footprint of public transportation. The division reported EUR 11.4 billion in revenue for fiscal year 2024, with nearly 42,000 employees worldwide. "We are continuing to scale our impact in the areas of industry, infrastructure and mobility, while empowering our customers to become more competitive, more resilient and more sustainable," Riesenhuber said, adding that the award is a direct reflection of employee commitment at every level of the organisation.
