METRANS, a leading provider of intermodal transportation services, has announced the acquisition of a 51% ownership stake in ADRIA RAIL. This strategic move expands the METRANS family and strengthens its position in the European intermodal market.
ADRIA RAIL is comprised of three companies, including the parent company ADRIA RAIL Rijeka, which operates as a small-scale version of METRANS. As a transportation operator, the company organizes cargo transport to, from, and through Croatia. ADRIA RAIL Operator serves as the railway company (EVU/RU).

Additionally, the Serbian-based company "Družstvo za intermodalni prevoz" operates a container terminal in Indija, located near Beograd in Serbia. The terminal has recently welcomed its first train from Rijeka.
METRANS' primary objective is to establish a reliable and regular rail connection between the Adriatic ports and the Indija terminal. In the next phase, METRANS plans to integrate the Indija terminal into its own network through regular train connections to its terminal in Budapest, Hungary, and potentially to Dunajská Streda in Slovakia.
